Our quick verdict

Buy it if

You're a solo attorney or small firm wanting one consolidated system for case, billing, and client communication, and you budget for the Pro tier where the client-facing features MyCase is actually known for live.

Think twice if

You lean heavily on mobile case management in the field - app-store ratings (2.1/5 iOS, 3.3/5 Android) and reviewer complaints both point to a real gap between the mobile and web experience.

Biggest strength: Strong client communication tools, including a self-service client portal

Biggest weakness: Mobile app quality is a real weak spot: 2.1/5 (77 ratings) on the App Store and 3.3/5 (~410 ratings) on Google Play

7.6/10

A genuinely easy onboarding experience for solo and small firms, but pricing has risen since its "budget-friendly" reputation formed, and the mobile app is a real, sourced weak point.

Pricing model

Published on mycase.com

Published tiers (mycase.com/pricing, verified 2026): Basic $50-60/month per user, Pro $100-120/month per user, Advanced $130-150/month per user (lower figure = annual billing). Parent company AffiniPay rebranded corporately as "8am" in 2025, so the product is now marketed as "8am MyCase"

A 10-day free trial is offered, no credit card required. Annual prepay saves up to 16% versus monthly billing. Cancellation is self-serve in Settings, but per MyCase's own fine print, "previously paid fees are non-refundable" - worth knowing before prepaying annually.

Feature breakdown

What each pricing tier actually includes

Confirmed directly on mycase.com/pricing: Basic ($50-60/user/month) includes case management, time entry, invoicing, trust accounting, and online payments, but only a "limited" client portal - it excludes unlimited eSignature, automated workflows, client intake/CRM, texting, and the AI writing assistant. Those client-facing, automation-heavy features that MyCase is actually known for sit behind Pro ($100-120/user/month), which also unlocks the full "70+ integrations" tier and the 8am IQ AI assistant. Advanced ($130-150/user/month) adds document automation, desktop sync, conflict-check tracking, and open API access. If you're comparing MyCase's advertised low price against competitors, make sure you're comparing the same tier.

Integrations & mobile app

MyCase's own integrations page lists 58 named apps and integrations as of August 2026 (Gmail, Outlook, QuickBooks, Dropbox, Mailchimp, Zapier, and more), and the vendor separately markets "70+ Integrations" as a Pro-tier feature. Multiple reviewers on Capterra and TrustRadius still say the ecosystem feels shallower than Clio's, missing some payment apps and native VOIP. Mobile app quality is a genuine, numbers-backed weak point: 2.1/5 on the iOS App Store (77 ratings) and 3.3/5 on Google Play (roughly 410-424 ratings) - both G2 and TrustRadius reviewers separately flag real gaps between the mobile and web experience, including limited search across text messages and files.

The "8am" corporate rebrand

AffiniPay (MyCase's parent since a June 2022 acquisition from Apax Partners) rebranded its whole corporate identity as "8am" on August 19, 2025, positioning itself as a unified professional-services platform spanning LawPay, MyCase, CPACharge, and CasePeer. The product is now formally marketed as "8am MyCase." Leadership has also changed recently: Jeff Hughes became CEO of 8am on May 19, 2026, succeeding Dru Armstrong - any older content citing a different CEO name is now out of date.

Security posture

Third-party vendor-risk firm UpGuard rated MyCase a B (782/950) as of August 2026, flagging missing DNSSEC, a DMARC policy set to "quarantine" rather than "reject," and one notable line: infostealer malware has reportedly been detected on systems associated with the organization, which UpGuard describes as indicating elevated risk, not a confirmed breach. Separately, a lower-quality blog aggregator has circulated a claim of a specific MyCase/8am data-breach lawsuit - we could not independently corroborate this through Law360, LawSites, or mainstream press, and the underlying lawsuit we did find covering a similar description involves a different, unrelated legal-tech vendor (DocketWise). We're not treating the breach claim as fact, and you shouldn't either without further verification.

Pros & Cons

What we like

  • Strong client communication tools, including a self-service client portal
  • 58+ named integrations covering common tools like QuickBooks, Gmail, and Dropbox (vendor also markets "70+" at the Pro tier)
  • Generally considered the gentlest onboarding among the major platforms

What to watch

  • Entry-tier pricing is misleading - most useful features require the higher tiers
  • Mobile app quality is a real weak spot: 2.1/5 (77 ratings) on the App Store and 3.3/5 (~410 ratings) on Google Play
  • Less suited to firms that expect to scale into a large, multi-attorney practice

Who is MyCase for?

Ideal for

  • Solo attorneys and small firms wanting one consolidated case/billing/communication system
  • Firms prioritizing ease of onboarding over deep customization
  • Firms willing to pay Pro-tier pricing to actually get the client-communication features MyCase is known for

Not ideal for

  • Firms that lean heavily on mobile case management in the field
  • Larger, scaling multi-attorney practices with complex, multi-payer billing needs
  • Firms sensitive to non-refundable annual prepayment terms

MyCase’s pitch is a complete, affordable system for solo and small-firm attorneys who want client communication and case management without a steep learning curve. The catch worth knowing upfront: the advertised entry price doesn’t reflect what most firms actually pay, since many genuinely useful features sit behind higher tiers. Still, for a solo practitioner prioritizing ease of use and client-facing polish over deep customization, it remains one of the more accessible starting points in the category.

Frequently asked questions

How much does MyCase cost?

Three tiers per mycase.com/pricing: Basic $50-60/user/month, Pro $100-120/user/month, Advanced $130-150/user/month (lower figure = annual billing). Older third-party pages still citing $39/$79-99 reflect an outdated pricing structure.

Is MyCase owned by AffiniPay or LawPay?

AffiniPay (LawPay's parent) acquired MyCase from Apax Partners in June 2022; in August 2025 AffiniPay rebranded corporately as "8am," so MyCase is now marketed as "8am MyCase," a sibling product to "8am LawPay."

Does MyCase's Basic plan include trust accounting?

Yes - trust accounting and invoicing are included even at the Basic tier, but client-communication features (texting, intake forms, unlimited eSignature, the AI assistant) require the Pro tier.

Is the MyCase mobile app any good?

Reviewer and app-store evidence says no: 2.1/5 (77 ratings) on the iOS App Store and 3.3/5 (~410-424 ratings) on Google Play, with G2 and TrustRadius reviewers citing real feature gaps versus the web app.

How many integrations does MyCase have?

MyCase's own integrations page lists 58 named apps as of August 2026; the vendor separately markets "70+ Integrations" as a Pro-tier feature. Reviewers still describe the ecosystem as thinner than Clio's.

What are the biggest complaints on review sites?

Document management/folder navigation friction, billing complexity for multi-payer scenarios, occasional customer-service delays, and a cluster of reviews (19 on G2) citing reduced email integration functionality after a recent change.

Has MyCase had a data breach?

Not confirmed. Security-ratings firm UpGuard flags elevated risk (infostealer malware detected on associated systems), which is not the same as a confirmed breach. A separate blog claim of a specific MyCase lawsuit could not be independently corroborated and appears to conflate MyCase with an unrelated vendor.

How we scored this

This score is based on our own independent research across five weighted dimensions - ease of use, features & depth, value for money, customer support, and small-business fit - not vendor-reported or user-submitted data. Feature claims are sourced from MyCase's own product pages and independent review coverage, not our own hands-on testing. Last reviewed 2026-08-01.
